The church for Pentecosts is located in Casimiro de la Torre, which is the old church in Plaza Pequeño de San Francisco, in the center of Santiago de Cuba. The present church was built in the beginning of the 19th century, it was rebuilt in the last decades of the century, and it has a three-basilica-type form, similar to the Virgin of Candelaria Basilica in Matanzas. In this church there are many paintings and sculptures, among which are preserved the "Last Supper" by Diego Gutiérrez Dávila, a work of the Cuban artist.
The Escuela Técnica de Arquitectura was founded in Havana in 1957. Many of its buildings are listed as historic buildings. Several important architects worked here, among them the architects Práxedes Ponce, Tomás y Oscar Bosch, Rebeca Serrat, Leopoldo Sanfuentes or even the Italian architect Gianni Troiano. The school was a pioneer in the field of architectural education, since it had, among its students, important Cuban architects like Félix Patricio Fernández, Jesús López Henríquez or Efrén Sánchez Muñoz.
In 1867, the main building of the Escuela Espanola de Puerto Príncipe, designed by the Spanish architect José Celestino Mutis, was built in the same location. It is considered one of the most important works in Cuba by Mutis.
Various institutions with important collections of modern art and many of the larger museums in Havana, such as the Galería de Arte Cubano, the Rafael Marchán Museum, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana have their main and principal spaces in Havana. Havana also has important archaeological collections, like the Casa del Caballo in La Habana Vieja, the La Fortaleza in Old Havana, the Monumento al Sitio de la Habana Vieja in the Capitolio, and the Casa de José Martí in Vedado.
